JOINT STATEMENT FROM ALBANY COUNTY LEGISLATORS FRANK MAURIELLO & PAUL BURGDORF
On Anti-Tesla Protests in Colonie
Embarrassing protests led by Senator Pat Fahy and other out-of-towners are nothing more than an attempt to cancel good-paying jobs in Colonie. Maywood Academy has been vacant for nearly 3 years. This site is in need of a smart economic development project like the electric vehicle showroom which was proposed more than a year ago. We have the opportunity to develop a parcel of land that has been tax exempt for many years and turn it into property tax generating business development. This project will boost the economy and encourage other businesses to transform this area of Central Avenue into an economic hub.
Senator Fahy would’ve known that if she represented Colonie, but the reality is she wasn’t elected to represent residents in our Town. The Senator should try focusing more on the residents she actually represents in Albany, and come up with solutions to address the rampant crime, homelessness and quality-of-life issues plaguing her constituents. People from Colonie are fearful of going to the city of Albany and it’s due to soft on crime politicians like Senator Fahy; she should work on fixing her city.
It’s no surprise New York’s budget is more than a week late when the politicians in charge of our state government put grandstanding before governing.
