District 31: Jeff S. Perlee

Committee Assignments: Public Works, Social Services, Elder Care.

Jeff Perlee is serving his first term on the Albany County Legislature, representing the 31st Legislative District, which makes up the iconic Helderberg region.

The Perlee family came to Albany County in the 1630s and were among the first settlers of the Helderberg region nearly a century later.

A native of Altamont, Jeff was educated in the Guilderland Schools. He holds a B.A. from Hobart College and a J.D. from Duke University. He practiced zoning and planning law with Sidley and Austin in Chicago and served as General Counsel to the Illinois Lottery. Jeff returned to the Capital District to serve as Director (CEO) of the New York Lottery.

Jeff served two terms as Commissioner of the Capital-Saratoga State Park commission, with responsibility over the Saratoga State Spa as well as Thacher and Thompson’s Lake State Parks, both of which are in the 31st Legislative District. Jeff also served as Chairman of the Empire State Winter Games in Lake Placid, the Guilderland Republican Committee and the Schenectady Bicentennial Commission.

He was co-founder of Altamont Community Tradition (ACT) and Hungerford Market, both in Altamont, and served as Director of the Guilderland YMCA, the Guilderland Food Pantry and St. John’s Lutheran’s Church. He is a licensed Albany County Foster Parent.

 

 Perlee lives with his children on an old family farm just above the historic village of Altamont.
