Albany County Republican & Conservative Conference Agenda 

I thank Supervisor Peter Crummey for his quick and decisive response to a busload of illegal migrants being placed at a hotel in Colonie. His leadership is miles above the failed leadership of New York State, New York City, and the City of Albany.

This brazen action is a direct violation of an 8-year old local law and a recently declared state of emergency in our County, which requires consultation and coordination with local governments.

The Biden Administration’s failure to control our southern border created this national disaster, and it’s getting worse every day. Governor Hochul and Mayor Adams have recklessly trampled on the rights of local municipalities.

Efforts were being made to house these migrants in the self-declared “Sanctuary City” of Albany. Mayor Sheehan has exposed herself as a hypocrite for working with Governor Hochul and Mayor Adams to send these illegal migrants to the Town of Colonie, rather than her “Sanctuary City.”

The state, New York City, and Mayor Sheehan should respect our County’s state of emergency, as well as the local governance of our town under the leadership of Supervisor Crummey. The illegal migrants should not be in Colonie — they should be in Mayor Sheehan’s “Sanctuary City.”
