ALBANY COUNTY LEGISLATORS SPREAD HOLIDAY CHEER WITH “TOYS FOR TOTS”
Local Lawmakers Donate Gifts for Children in Need, Asking Public to do the Same
ALBANY, NY – “In the month of December, the Albany County Republican and Conservative Conference is asking the public to help us spread holiday cheer by participating in the Capital Region’s annual “Toys for Tots” program. Several of my colleagues and I have donated gifts at drop-off locations in Albany County, working with school districts, municipal partners and small businesses to help children in need this holiday season. Make the difference in someone’s Holiday this year, and please donate if you can,” said Minority Leader Frank Mauriello (R-C, Colonie).
“This holiday season, there is no better feeling than being able to help children and families in need with toys under the Christmas tree. Toys for Tots is one of the most successful charity causes in the nation – but it could not be done without the dedicated service of the United States Marine Corps, as well as the partnership of local businesses, government partners and everyday residents who make donations. We are asking the public to make one final push ahead of the holidays by dropping a new, unwrapped toy at any one of the countless locations in our area,” said Legislator Patty Schwarz Lockart (R-C, Colonie).
Recent toy donations by local lawmakers have been made at the Recreational Center in the Village of Colonie, and Coldwell Banker in Loudonville. Several area businesses and public entities participate in the United States Marine Corps-sponsored “Toys for Tots” program, helping to collect more than a million toys for hundreds of thousands of local children annually.
Capital Region Toys for Tots, one local chapter of the program, continues to collect toys this week with their last collection being Friday, December 19.
